ABOUT US

Moycarkey Coolcroo Athletic Club has been in existance for 85 years from 1936 to today 2021 and is as strong now as it was back in its infancy. We currently have just over 100 juvenile athletes & 15 senior athletes registered with the Club. The Club’s athletes compete all year round in a wide variety of events from Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field events, Combined Events and Road Races at juvenile, junior & senior level. Training takes place in Our field in  beside the Community Sports Centre in Littleton We train there from September to December for the Cross Country Season, We train inside at the community Sports Centre from January until the weather gets better where we move back outdoors to Our Club field beside the center which we own and hope to build a track one day we train there up until the Summer break and we come full circle again for Cross Country from August to December. We have also hosted County and Munster Cross Country Competitions with kind permission from the Hayes Family of the Middlepiece. The Club has no shortage of willing members to help out at a moment’s notice & our women have a wonderful ability to put on a great feast after County road races which the Club has hosted. Their biscuit cake is legendary & many athletes come just for a taste of this cake after the race. There is a great camaraderie amongst Club members which is witnessed no matter where we go. We hold our Annual Road Races at the end of August each year and of course we have our very own History Book “A Tipperary Athletic Club” (read more below).

2015 here.

The Club has always made a positive contribution to athletics in this parish, both through active participation and organisation of events. And none more evident that this past year when our very distinctive singlet has been seen the length & breadth of the British Isles. During this past year, our athletes have won 2 International medals, numerous National, Munster and County titles in various events. Some of our athletes have also donned the Irish singlet to compete for Ireland on the International stage. The Club takes a very active role in Tipperary County Athletics with four of our members filling the roles of County Chairman (Billy Purcell), County IT Manager (Aisling Hoey), County Juvenile Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Secretary (Jim Ryan) & County Juvenile Cross Country Secretary (Nikki Hennessy). 2 of our members are also on the Munster Council, Aisling Hoey as Munster Juvenile PRO & Jim Ryan as Munster Delegate to the National Executive.  Over the past year, the Club has also hosted prestigious County and Munster Road and Cross Country competitions.
Our Club and our dedicated team continue on our way for 2014 to promote & encourage athletics and a fit & healthy lifestyle for all in our parish and its surroundings.
